Improve living conditions in rural areas of Vietnam, home of small communities of ethnic people

At a Glance:

Northern part of Vietnam is a mountainous area with many communities live spreadly. Hidden inside the Mai Chau mountains 140 km for the capital city, there are many small communities home to the Thai and Muong ethnic people. Although this area starts to develop as a tourist destination, some people in the communities have very limited infrastructure, as well as lack access to basic water facilities.

Students will help build a water storage system, restore dilapidated houses, improve the local school’s facilities, as well as improve roads and walkways in and around the villages.

Learning Outcomes :

Experience living with Vietnamese ethnic community and explore the socio-economic condition of the ethnic community
Learn about ethnic communities’ culture and their spiritual beliefs
Identify the challenges of ethnic communities, both from internal and external, and what solutions are needed for their better development
Contribute towards building community infrastructure to provide a more adequate living environment
