Khiri Campus’s Asia cultural exploration programs are a great way for students to gain an in-depth understanding of the countries and communities they visit.
Khiri Campus always works with local guides and our groups usually stay at locally owned homestays and guest houses, while eating local foods prepared by people in the villages that we visit throughout our programs. This not only creates a more authentic experience for our student groups, but also means that local communities benefit from tourism in a responsible and sustainable way.
For a fully immersive experience, our cultural exploration programs pair particularly well with our service learning projects.

The GROUND Asia guides were excellent. They gave good support to the team and had good knowledge of the area. The guides were also happy to tell the team about their own experience during the civil problems in recent history. The team appreciated this as it made the whole issue more “real” for them to hear first hand experiences.
Thank you Van and team Vietnam for taking such good care of us. Everything we experienced throughout our trip in Northern Vietnam was fantastic! My favorite part was the service learning project. All of us were totally smitten by the beauty of Mai Chau (and the food in the homestay, of course)!
The students felt like the experience in Java Island was once in a life-time experience! It was a great to learn about the society and culture in Indonesia and the planning done by GROUND Asia team was just fantastic. Learning about Cambodian history first-hand was very interesting, and the experience helped me to understand how the nation has developed from its past to present. My favourite part was our visit to the art museum, the memorial to the genocide was very sad but good tolearn about.
I knew very little of Sri Lanka before travelling here. My experience on local life and the community was absolutely amazing. Sri Lankans are very hospitable and kind. Our community project in Digana was also another highlight and we enjoyed staying at our homestay and the food was so yummy. The choices you get for vegetarians are surprisingly a lot! 😀
We learned so much about the culture and religion in our visit to Thailand – it’s really different from home. The Thai people were very warm and welcoming. We loved our visits to different temples and understanding the history of it from the local guides – they are so beautiful as well. Our local host, Nat did an amazing job taking care of us!
