At a Glance:
GROUND Asia Coral Reef Restoration Program will take you to assist local fisherfolk communities and their conservation program, aims at improving the livelihoods of local fishermen and their communities, by using marine resources sustainably and learning how to preserve the local marine ecosystem.
The program includes discussion session about corals’ ecology and biology. Then, students will do preparation of substrate for coral planting and plant it! Students will also learn on the global ornamental fish trade and join community sharing about the catching of ornamental fish. Students can see the demonstration on catching ornamental fish with barrier net and also visit ornamental fish farm in the community. To make the learning on marine ecosystem more complete, students will learn about marine debris survey methodology and continued by collecting marine debris within the intertidal zone.
