Get involved in wildlife and animal welfare in the stunning landscapes of Northern Thailand

At a Glance:

This KHIRI CAMPUS program will take students to the mountainous city of Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand, to the home of the country’s infamous animal: elephants. Students will learn more about this animal by joining activity in an Elephant Care Centre – a camp for elephants that can no longer work either in tourism or in the logging industry. They will spend the day interacting with these gentle giants to learn all about elephant care, conservation and discuss the broad topic of animal welfare in tourism.

Learning Outcomes :

Contribute to the daily running of an elephant sanctuary
Gain an understanding of how bad practice towards animals can affect an animal’s lifetime condition
Learn about animal conservation and rehabilitation action, particularly elephants
Understand that humans play an important role in preserving animals and animal welfare
