At a glance:
This midwifery program will allow you to experience working in the healthcare of mothers and newborns through shadowing staff in different maternity units, from prenatal to theatre and labour in Bangkok and its surrounding villages. You will spend time observing midwives, doctors and nurses at work and may also get the opportunity to observe procedures in theatre, shadow staff in the Paediatrics department, and understand the challenges of childbirth in rural communities.

Through this program, you will assist local practitioners in providing basic medical treatment to Thai women in remote communities who may not receive regular access to basic medical services.The skills and knowledge exchange between the visiting students and local staff also promotes informal and formal learning and training opportunities locally, which improves internal best practice and the long term success of the health provisions provided.
