At a Glance:

KHIRI CAMPUS’s program of Social Studies in Thailand invites students to explore key historical and cultural sites in three distinctly different cultural and geographic regions of Thailand where they will research, observe, compare and contrast different dimensions, trends and issues of Thai society.

Thailand’s turbulent history, diverse society and rich culture makes it a fascinating and colorful destination in which to learn about the social dimensions of developing countries. With a population of 68 million people, it has a vibrant and fast-growing economy – the second largest economy in Southeast Asia.

Learning Outcomes :

Gain an understanding of Thai language, culture, history and society
Taste the regional cuisines of Central, Northern, and Southern Thailand, and join cooking class
Visit Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket’s key historical sites while learning about the culture and history of Thailand
Visit a community that practices three faiths: Buddhism, Christianity and Islam
Visit an NGO working in the Bangkok slums to learn about some of the challenges of Bangkok’s urban poor
Meet a monk to learn about the Buddhist faith and attend a Buddhist meditation class
