‘Drink the blood of turtle and you can stay long under the water’. This old belief has driven people of Indonesia to hunt turtles. As time passes by, the population of turtles has been decreasing and it affects the whole marine ecosystems.
This GROUND Asia program invites you to help overcoming this issue by helping a local turtle conservation site in West Bali. The pioneer of this action are Pak Komang and Pak Anom. They come from a family that once hunted turtles to make a living. However, they went against family tradition and built a turtle conservation site to protect and preserve the different species of turtles in Bali. Learn about the turtles that frequent the area, how they reproduce and lay eggs, and how the center protects baby turtle eggs. Release a baby turtle into the sea.
