At a Glance:
A dark part of Cambodian history occurred less than a lifetime ago. Its impact and trauma can still be felt today. This KHIRI CAMPUS program invites students to learn about this event and provides a complete opportunity to comprehend this event through various discussion and visitations.
Besides visiting Tuol Sleng Prison and Killing Filled which are important locations to perceive the event, students are invited to meet and talk with a survivor of the Khmer Rouge Period as well as other witnesses who now live in rural Cambodia.
Students are invited to visit several other locations to deepen their cognition of this event. They will visit a documentation center of Cambodia, an art museum depicting the period, and rehabilitation center that provides mental care and psychosocial support to Cambodian people. They will also be invited to visit the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia which receives international assistance through the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT).
