Understand the importance of the humans’ role and contribution to preserve wildlife
At a glance:
Spend a week or more with a local Wildlife Conservation team that will provide a rare opportunity to work alongside its scientists, conservationists, community partners and villagers. This program has been in operation since 2002 and accepting volunteers to support with conservation and research work actively.
Takes place in a lesser known national park located in the north central part of Sri Lanka, this location is the home to wild Asian elephants, sloth bears, leopards and other endangered species. Engage in tasks including: gathering information on elephants and other wildlife and tropical ecosystems; collecting essential environmental and socio-economic data to help develop community-based conservation programs; participating in discussions with local villagers to help identify practical solutions to human-elephant conflicts; and observing, assessing and documenting human-elephant conflicts.
