Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, are the targets formulated by world leaders at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in 2015 as practical guidance to develop a more sustainable and prosperous society for everyone. The SGDs consist of 17 Goals and 169 targets which address a broad range of topics including ending poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, and tackling climate change by 2030. These identified goals cannot be realistically achieved by the sole efforts of world leaders and national governments – extensive collaboration and sharing across a broad range of institutions and stakeholders is required to make progress.
